Mastering the Running Fundamentals
MRA Winter Track Club: Run Faster & Incur Fewer Injuries **THIS PROGRAM IS NOW FULL**
Did you know that by simply learning some of the basic fundamentals of running, along with a proper warm-up, you can become a faster runner and incur fewer injuries??
The MRA, in association with Athletics Manitoba (AM), has developed an 12-week program of workouts specifically designed for road runners, whether you’re new to the sport or have been training and racing for years.
The workouts will be held once a week on Wednesdays 7:30-8:30pm at the James Daly Fieldhouse (Max Bell, U of M) starting January 12th and running for 12 weeks ending on April 13th. Clinicians will be Calvin Reimer and Noel Kendle, middle distance specialists with the U of M Bison Track Team.
These workouts are available at a low price to cover the cost of lane rental:
- 2022 Adult MRA Members: $25.00 + GST
- 2022 Youth MRA Members: $10.00 + GST
- 2022 Adult Non-MRA Members: $45.00 + GST
- 2022 Youth Non-MRA Members: $20.00 + GST
They will be tailored to your current level of training and there will be separate groups for youth and adults. Some of the topics that will be covered are:
- what is a good warm-up and why is it important?
- running mechanics
- speed workouts
- at-home injury prevention, and more!
Each session will build on the last one, with the goal of developing both speed and strength over the 12-week time frame. Get yourself ready for the spring racing schedule by signing up here:
