2026 MRA Track Club Winter Session: Run Faster & Incur Fewer Injuries  

Did you know that by simply learning some of the basic fundamentals of running, along with a proper warm-up, you can become a faster runner and incur fewer injuries??

The MRA, in association with Athletics Manitoba (AM), has developed a program of workouts specifically designed for road runners, whether you’re new to the sport or have been training and racing for years.

Workouts will be held once a week on Thursdays 7:00-8:30pm at the James Daly Fieldhouse, Max Bell, University of Manitoba, from January 8 to April 30, 2026 (12 sessions). 

There will be NO training on February 26th, March 5th, March 19th, March 26th or April 9th. 

Coaches will be Matt Van Schepdael & Calvin Reimer, middle distance specialists with the U of M Bison Track Team.

Workouts will be tailored to your current level of training. Some of the topics that will be covered are:

  • what is a good warm-up and why is it important?
  • running mechanics
  • speed/interval workouts
  • at-home injury prevention, and more! 

Each session will build on the last one, with the goal of developing both speed and strength over the span of the program.
