Mastering the Running Fundamentals
Run Faster & Prevent Injuries-an MRA Summer Clinic Series
Did you know that by simply learning some of the basic fundamentals of running, along with a proper warm-up, you can become a faster runner and incur fewer injuries??
Now that some of the Manitoba Public Health Orders have been relaxed, we can once again gather together in small groups to train. The MRA, in association with Athletics Manitoba (AM), has developed an 8-week program of clinics specifically designed for road runners, whether you’re new to the sport or have been training and racing for years.
The clinics will be held once a week on Wednesdays 7-8:30pm at the Victor Mager Track at Victor Mager School, 81 Beliveau Road in Winnipeg, starting July 7th and running for 8 weeks ending on August 25th. Clinicians will be Carolyn Coffin, running coach & wellness expert, and Calvin Reimer and Noel Kendle, middle distance specialists with the U of M Bison Track Team.
These clinics are available FREE to all current MRA members born in 2011 or earlier. They will be tailored to your current level of training and there will be separate groups for youth and adults. Some of the topics that will be covered are:
- what is a good warm-up and why is it important?
- running mechanics
- speed workouts
- at-home injury prevention, and more!
Each session will build on the last one, with the goal of developing both speed and strength over the 8-week time frame. Get yourself ready for the heavy fall racing schedule by signing up FREE here:
Due to Public Health restrictions the number of spots available will be limited. Don’t delay and sign up today! I’d love to see you in person!
