MRA Board of Directors
Executive Director – Kathy Wiens
Kathy Wiens has been an active road runner for about 25 years. She loves to race all distances from 5km to the full marathon. She belongs to the Road Kill Running Club and trains with them when her body allows! She works in the office of a rural veterinary clinic a couple of days a week, and in her spare time she teaches Dressage riding to a small group of adults. She sat on the Run Manitoba committee of Athletics Manitoba for 3 years and when road racing was turned back over to the Manitoba Runners’ Association she wanted to continue giving back to the running community. Kathy says it is an honour to take over the reins from Leni as Executive Director.
She is married to her husband Peter and has two very active children, Kaitlyn and Noah, who train with the Windburn Triathlon Club.
Secretary – Dreena Duhame
Dreena is a retired legal assistant and has been a board member for 11 years as secretary. Dreena celebrated 35 years of running in May 2014. During that time she has completed distances of one mile to the full marathon. She hopes to be running when she is 90. Besides being passionate about running, Dreena loves opera, the Blue Bombers and her three cats: Norma Jean, Dudley and Tonto.
Her other volunteer activities include the Humane Society and tending the kettle for the Salvation Army at Christmas time.
In September 2013 Dreena completed the Trail of the Incas in Peru, a four day trek through the Andes Mountains. She was the oldest female with that particular tour company to do so. She says she could not have done it without her background as a runner.
